COVID-19 Tests The World

Ever since this pandemic has started back in January, and people like me living in the middle-east was somehow living with a hope, that this deadly microbe won’t hit us, several weeks later and.. Boom! we’re under partial curfew from 5pm to 6am next day, besides at the time where people were allowed to leave home they’re still encouraged to stay indoors at all times and, never go out unless it’s — dead — necessary and serious to leave safety.

Schools, universities, shops, malls, companies, factories and, more, all have been sealed shut to fight the spread of the virus, people were told to work from home, but it seems that not many have asked “What about those whose jobs can’t be done form home?”, and you hear from others who shouts out to the people “Just come in to office, the virus isn’t really looking for you!”

And you see others who act in total panic as if the world was on its way to end, flooding to groceries and supermarkets, buying whatever their hands can reach, carelessly stashing supplies that other less fortunate people come and find nothing to get for their homes.

And countries stealing medical aids from one another, and others that refuse giving a helping hand to peoples and countries who are in real need, the true metal of — almost — every single person, government, enterprise and, entity on Earth is now exposed, as there are unions who proved true to their word, there are others who — now we know — are not.

Selfishness and greed are the top stars of the show in these dark moments of human history, mediocre businessmen are calling out their employees to keep doing their job and risk coming to their workplaces, as if it wasn’t enough asking them to pay a lot of their lifetimes working for them, immoral and disrespectful media, television, producers, influencers, actors and, actresses who continued shooting movies, series and, ads despite the total shutdown of almost everything else, if any of you gets infected and starts spreading it to the public, you and the ones who allowed you to keep going are to blame.

If mosques, churches and, other places of worship have been closed, what makes your business more important that it continues its operation, while people can’t pray as they usually would — or perhaps because they really haven’t they were forbid to be in a holy place.

This coronavirus has showed the world how many of us are intolerant and unforgiving, and a lot more who are selfish and greedy.

On the other side of the coin, there are brave knights, not in shining armors but, in gowns of white, green, or blue. Physicians, nurses and, medics, against all odds, they stand tall helping human kind to pass through this ordeal, risking their lives doing so.

And the kind hearts who contained the situation of their dependents, as there are greedy businessmen, there are also compassionate and selfless ones, who favored the safety of their people over the stakes they hold, as they were the ones who initiated the lockdown on themselves first before it was imposed by authorities.

And the respectful people of the medium of media — of all kinds — who discontinued their works until the ship of human kind reaches a safe harbor, and told everyone to stay home without bragging or showing off how big and facilitated their houses are and, finally to everyone out there who’s calling for — or acting out of — solidarity, sympathy and, compassion thank you.

And as a closure I’d like to say, we are not losing, no matter how low the indicators are currently showing — financial, economical, social or even psychological — , it is a time of down and, what goes around comes around, so if you act right during this adversity, you’ll end up winning in all those indicators when we get back to a time of up, otherwise you’ll keep going down when others start to rise.
